Masters of Wine:Rosé and white wines from RiojaRioja is Spain's best-known wine region - and one of the most renowned in the world. For a long time, the name Rioja stood almost exclusively for mature red wines with vanilla and spice flavours. But the wine world has changed - and Rioja with it. Today, the region also impresses with fresh, modern white and rosé wines. And these are also muy delicioso - as shown by a 1.9% increase in white wine sales.
Whether red, rosé or white: with over 240 million litres of wine sold in total in 2024, Rioja remains an international flagship for quality. But what makes good Rioja? It is the balance of origin, grape variety, ageing and style. Rioja brings character and expression to the glass in every colour. In addition, a clearly regulated ageing system provides orientation in the diverse world of Riojas, and in the end only one thing counts anyway: that the wine tastes good. Or as the British Master of Wine Richard Bampfield aptly puts it: "Enjoyment should always take centre stage." A simple but crucial principle - which also applies to Rioja wines.
