BBQ accessories for gas grills & more: What's really worth it!
Whether you're a spontaneous weekend griller or a BBQ fan with real ambitions: with the right accessories, you'll get the best results. What do you definitely need, what's worthwhile for specific favourite recipes, and which extras will make the barbecue season a highlight? Here is your guide to accessories for gas grills, charcoal grills and more.
The all-rounder for every BBQ fan
You don't need much to get started on the barbecue. Charcoal barbecues or gas barbecues already come with all the essentials – and depending on the product, even a wide range of accessories. To get you started, you will need:

Grill tongs: You can’t do anything on the barbecue without a good pair of tongs. Thanks to their extra-long handles and sturdy design, you can place food on the grill, take it off, turn it over and even move coals around. For optimal hygiene, it’s worth having two pairs of tongs – one for charcoal and one for food, or one for meat and one for vegetables.

Grill Thermometer: The thermometer is an important barbecue accessory for steaks and other meats that you want to be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. You can also use it to check if your barbecue is at the optimal temperature before you start grilling.

Grill knife & fork: A sharp knife is a must-have in any good kitchen – and it's just as essential for meat, veg and more on the barbecue. A large grill fork can hold meat steady while you cut it, or help with turning and serving.

Basting Brush: For marinades, basting juices, or creating a delicious crust – a basting brush with silicone bristles gets it all onto your food. Silicone is exceptionally easy to clean and is always flavour-neutral.
BBQ accessories for special occasions
When you're ready to move beyond sausages and burgers, and you fire up the BBQ all year round, it's time to invest in more professional accessories. Their job? To help you achieve better results and make grilling even safer. We recommend:

Grilling basket: Tender fish, vegetables and other delicate or small food items are easier to handle and turn effortlessly in the "cage". Available in various designs and shapes for different types of food.

Grill pan: A grill pan is a great multi-tasker. It stops fat from dripping onto the coals, lets you grill vegetables, steaks or potatoes until perfectly crisp, and helps you save on disposable aluminium grill accessories.

Pizza stone: A pizza stone retains a lot of heat, ensuring a crispy base in just a few minutes. Simply place it on the cold grill rack, heat the barbecue to a high temperature, and then add your pizza.

Barbecue skewers: High-quality barbecue skewers are always a great choice for small treats, from savoury to sweet. You can also use them for special barbecue recipes like campfire bread or even spit cake.

BBQ Accessories for Spotless Results: Grill Care Made Easy
You don't need a lot of accessories to keep your BBQ and grill grate clean – thanks to a process called pyrolysis! This is the power of the BBQ's heat at work: food residue is burnt off the grate as organic compounds turn to ash at high temperatures. It's always a good idea to clean the BBQ while it's still a little warm. But be careful not to burn yourself!
These three helpers, for example, are ideal for grill care:
- For more stubborn residue, we recommend a grill brush. Its metal bristles make light work of leftovers.
- Aluminium foil is often on hand when you're having a BBQ anyway. You can also use it for cleaning. Simply crumple it into a ball and rub it over the grate! This helps with light dirt.
- If you want to clean the burners of a gas BBQ, use a plastic scraper. It's gentle on the material.
If you use cleaning agents, always make sure the formula is suitable for the BBQ's material. Remove any residue thoroughly and let everything dry completely before firing up the BBQ again.
