Episode 03: Finding freedom on the SUP with Erik Sander

In the third episode, Erik shows how a diagnosis became the driving force for a new adventure. Instead of giving up, he sought freedom on the water with his SUP. His story reveals an encouraging side of Why We Try and how a deep connection with nature helps us take control of our own lives.

    The call of the water

Erik's connection to water began in his youth, spending a lot of time by the lake with his grandfather. But his real journey started after his multiple sclerosis diagnosis. The feeling of losing control became his driving force: waiting was no longer an option. He had to act immediately and set his dreams in motion.

    From Uncertainty to Optimism

For Erik, every day on the water is a victory of optimism over uncertainty. Every moment proves to him that life is full of possibilities. Whether he's on his own or with his family, the water is his anchor and his freedom. A place where he sets his own course.
